After some announcements that studio executives wanted Javier Bardem in the iconic role of Roland…

Source Code is a sci-fi movie
And by sci-fi, I mean real sci-fi not a fantasy story with some spaceships in it (Star Wars), not a fantasy story with some machine guns (Avatar), not a fast paced space western (Star Trek XI)…
Source Code is a sci-fi film meaning that it uses technology as a means of conflict and eventually reflects on our own fears of mortality by using overexagerated technological concepts (and a lot of creativity).
Because I was late to the movie and missed the first 8 minutes and because it was in french I was at first not really sure what was going on, having only read that it is about trying to prevent an explosion in a train – but I guess like most movies of this genre confusion at the beginning is intended since those movies are meant to be watched a second time to see all the hints that were already placed at the beginning.
Scream 4 is… not as bad as Scream 3
It is for sure unexpected, I just don’t know yet if that is a good thing or a bad thing.
This will be just an impression of a guy who started watching Scream with 10, was not allowed to go into the theater to see Scream 3 because he was only 11, waited for the VHS release of Scream 3 and watched it over and over again.
This article will be spoiler FREE, there won’t be any plot revelations or anything. The only thing that I might say is how I felt about stuff like the killer, the motif, the opening, but there won’t be a revelation of what it really is.

The story continues!
This is an overview of the first three installments of the highly successful Scream trilogy, which will get a fourth chapter this week. The guide is spoiler-free, no revelations of the idedntity of the killers are made, it is just here to give a general feeling of what this series is about and why I think it should be watched.

Tomorrow Scream 4 arrives in french cow country and to say I’m excited might not really cut it, after all Scream has been my first “serious horror movie” when I was ten and I am now in the demographic being targeted as nostalgia cash-in.
The idea of having a fourth Scream or Scre4m as they call it now, always sounded ridiculous to me – then again I was young and believed what the guy in the television told me. “The rules” clearly established in Scream 3 that either you have a continuing franchise OR a concluded trilogy.
Since Scream 3 (or Scr3am ?) took the second route a sequel was out of the question…
But in a year where we have 3 part 4s (Scre4m, Pirates 4 and Twilight 4) it doesn’t seem that far off. The question is:
Will this movie be any good?
As a nice appetizer (since Warner Brothers knows that most people will buy the DVD/Blu Ray anyway) there has been a bunch of deleted scenes from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 that got released.
Most of them really deserve the name deleted scenes except for the short moment between Petunia. While I love this tiny moment I guess it has been deleted in favor of the brilliant non-verbal opening (aside from the Tales of the Three Brothers my favorite part of the film).
UPDATE: Wow they sure safed us from lot of “nothing happens scenes”
