Godzilla Banner 2

In 1954 we awakened something…

The line uttered by Dr. Ishiro Seriwaza (Ken Watanabe) showcases that this new iteration of the iconic movie monster Godzilla (Gojira in Japanese) is the polar opposite of Roland Emmerich’s 1998 interpretation. Instead of being scared of the 60 years legacy – and the fair share of camp associated with the 28 Japanese movies – Gareth Edwards (Monsters) has crafted a reboot that treats Godzilla as a sacred cow. The result is an astonishing film showcasing Edwards’s storytelling skills while feeling like a multimillion dollars apology for Roland Emmerich’s version.

Note: This is the first (and hopefully not last) time that we have two separate reviews for one movie. For Krammer’s review (in German) click here. For Wolfgang’s take on it just continue:

Ape Army

The bad thing about the sequel to Rise of the Planet of the Apes is that director Rupert Wyatt is not returning to direct the sequel. The good thing about this new trailer for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (those titles for sure do run long) seems to follow in Wyatt’s footsteps of making these movies more about the apes as fully fleshed characters instead of villains for CGI battles:

Battle for the Thrones Banner

HBO has released 18 character posters for the upcoming fourth Season featuring the saying Valar Morghulis – All men must die – which started to feature in the final episode of the second season. Naturally I want to give a spoiler warning to people who have not caught up yet since the images naturally give away who is still alive in the fourth Season (and with Game of Thrones you are pretty lucky if you are still around in Season 4 and also who will be less prominent in Season 4):

This november unfortunately won’t mark the end of the Hunger Games Trilogy because it was decided to split the final book titled Mockingjay into two parts (do we really need to ask why?). So this sadly means that we have almost two more years for the ending of the story of Katniss Everdeen (then again the wait doesn’t seem that long if we consider that we have a Hunger Games movie every year).

Now the first poster was published once again featuring the simple design of the Mockingjay who started out as a simple pin for Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) from her sister (or the mayor’s daughter depending if you are talking about the movie or the book) and has now become the symbol of the revolution:
