December 18th – Contagion

I didn’t manage to catch Contagion in cinemas this year but had the joy of watching the movie on my flight to Hong Kong and surprisingly this movie about a lethal virus also has its Christmas moment.

Uncomfortably real in its depiction of how the population and government would react to this viral outbreak Contagion earns the science seal of approval – but more on that in a separate review. The movie not only deals with the effects and reactions of the virus but of course also with the researching progress. Dr. Extall (Jennifer Ehle) is one of those scientists trying to find the solution to the virus.

Seeing as Contagion is a fairly fresh movie and the moment is in the middle of the film I won’t go into much details. Suffice to say that it deals with the theme of compassion and an inspirational father figure inspiring his daughter and two selfless acts.
