The King’s Speech dominates the BAFTAs – no trophy for Bale

As to be expected The King’s Speech dominated the evening, taking home:

Film
British Film
Original Screenplay
Actor
Supporting Actor
Supporting Actress
Music

The Social Network grabbed the trophy for best director, with the BAFTAs it is usually not the director of the film that wins best film at the BAFTAs who gets the award.

Still it is very rare that Speech won both british and best film, a category that is usually split as well, which lead many to predict a Social Network win for best picture.

Also The Social Network grabbed Best adapted Screenplay and Editing.

True Grit scored for Cinematography so that Oscar should be a lock too.

Carter winning is typical, but it should be noted that Melissa Leo from The Fighter was not nominated and Hailee Steinfeld was nominated (rightfully) for best actress.

Geoffrey Rush over Bale is not surprising since most people seem to forget that Bale is not from the states but from Wales and because Speech just has the pulling power.

Natalie Portman won for Black Swan so it can be safely assumed that she will win the Oscar as well.

Inception won Production Design, Sound and Visual Effects and Tom Hardy was awarded the Rising Star Award (an award chosen by public poll)

Yeah I’m happy that Fincher got the trophy, but i doubt that the Oscar will have a similar split, I guess it will be Speech all through the major categories
