We are still in the very early days of Christmas, so like yesterday the suggestion for December 2nd might not be considered a movie to get into Christmas mood. But since Die Hard takes place on Christmas Eve and some even consider it to be teaching the most important Christmas lessons, why shouldn’t this movie be enjoyed more often?
22 years and still Die Hard is the standard for action hero movies, this was a movie before shaky cam, before useless fbi agency subplots, when men had a machine gun – ho ho ho…
The awesome poster alone is interesting for two reasons:
At first the studio hesitated to put Bruce Willis on the poster since he was not an established actor that drew in the crowds – imagine a Bruce Willis film today without his face being pasted all over the place!
The original poster only featured the exploding building, which brings us to the second point:
Try portraying an exploding building and sell it as “awesome actioner” in a post 9/11 Hollywood world.
That being said, I hope you get into the Christmas moody
Jippie kay yay motherfucker!
